2023 Competition Notes

June-This month, the winner of the crew game is Team Bounce. This was a timed game, and they were the fastest! It’s not easy going from point A to point B with a beach ball between your knees, but Bounce succeeded. They have captured the crew flag and can fly it until the July event. See you then!

July-The 3rd Annual Cornhole Competition is in the books. This year the top 3 teams not only got bragging rights but also received tickets to Lavender in the Village.
The top 3 teams this month were:

2nd Team Sandia Sunrise
3rd Team SO

August-The competition for August is in the books. Team Bounce is tenaciously hanging on to first place, but Team Takach is right behind! Only 60 points separate the teams. Team Takach took a commanding lead this month, earning 75 points in the Applesauce game and an additional 25 points for donating school supplies.  All scores have been posted and updated.
There will be no competitions in September and October, so these scores will stand until then.
A reminder that if you wish to donate school supplies, you have 2 more opportunities to do so.  They will be collected at the August 19th AAAA happy hour and at our general meeting on August 22.

November-It was a great morning for the Crew Competition! The competition was close and fierce. The top 3 teams were separated by less than 2 seconds. 
Coming in first place, earning 90 points for their overall score, was Team Sandia Sunlite. This also moved them into 3rd place overall. They also have the crew flag until Jingle Bell.
In second place was Team Roy G Biv. They earned 65 points toward their overall score.
Team Bank Bobber came in third, earning 40 points toward their overall score.
Team Bounce is still in first place for the year, holding on to a narrow lead.
Jingle Bell Non-Rally will be the next, and the last, opportunity to earn points for the year. See you there!

December-It was a great year for competition, but now the 2023 season is over.  Thank you to everyone who competed in the 14 different games we had this year.  Yes, 14.  That is not a typo.
All the scores and standings are posted below. As you will see, the 2023 Crew Competition Champion is Team Bounce!  Team Bounce took an overwhelming lead by participating in all 4 games during the Jingle Bell Non-Rally.
They were 1 of 3 teams that tied for first place in the Jingle Bell Rock game, which required a tie-breaking Shake Off.  The other two teams competing in the tie-breaker were Bank Bobber and Air Rocky Top.  In the Shake Off, Team Bank Bobber, using some really skilled booty-shaking moves, wiggled their way to first place in that game.  Air Rocky Top rattled their way to 2nd place.  Bounce jiggled into 3rd.
Team Bank Bobber’s win in the tie-breaker helped launch them into 3rd place overall.  They ended up just 1 point behind Team Takatch, who finished second overall. Team Roy G Biv finished 4th overall, and Team Sandia Sunrise finished 5th overall. 
The top 5 teams will be given awards at the Awards Banquet.  Stay tuned for details.
Crew Competition will begin for 2024 at the Friends and Lovers Rally in February.  Get your game faces on, and see you there!
