Promoting Hot-Air Ballooning Through Education & Community

Allan Jones Volunteer Award

This award, originally called the AAAA Volunteer of the Year Award, was first presented in 1991 and renamed in memory of esteemed AAAA member and volunteer Allan Jones, who tragically lost his life in a powerline accident during the 1993 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. It recognizes an AAAA member who has shown outstanding dedication through significant contributions of time and effort to the operation of the club and to ballooning within the community. The recipient must also have actively participated on at least one standing committee or made notable contributions to improving relations between the ballooning community and the public.

Nominations for this award are not solicited publicly. Instead, members of the Board of Directors are invited to submit nominations during the January and February meetings. Candidates may also be selected from the pool of nominees for the Bob Ruppenthal Award.
