Mission
The mission of the Flying Events Committee is to support the growth and enjoyment of ballooning through thoughtfully organized events that enhance the skills and safety of pilots and crews. By creating opportunities for learning, competition, and celebration, the committee strengthens the bonds within the ballooning community and upholds AAAA’s commitment to excellence in ballooning.
Activities
The Flying Events Committee organizes an annual schedule of flying events, published in the January Cloudbouncer and on the AAAA website, ensuring members stay informed and engaged. The committee works with the Special Events Committee on major gatherings like the Jingle Bell Non-Rally and the Friends & Lovers Rally, focusing on pilot safety and adherence to the highest standards.
Additionally, the committee manages key regulatory tasks, including drafting the FAA Waiver and Letter of Agreement (LOA) for Class C airspace, in coordination with the AAAA leadership and the FAA. By ensuring pilots meet all documentation requirements, the committee upholds AAAA’s commitment to safe, compliant, and enjoyable ballooning activities.
